The reality is YOU CAN BECOME BETTER, more skilled, more value focused, a better communicator, more disciplined, more scheduled, and so on and so forth. The business is not going to become any easier because we are dealing with people!

Our real product is people. I have heard it said once that man as an individual is very unpredictable; man in the masses is very predictable. Knowing this, you should develop your business around this truth.

Everything is about understanding people, the way they think, and building your systems to stack the odds in your favor. Will every system work perfectly, every time? Of course not! If it did, there would be no money in our type of marketing structure. This business pays for consistent solid, long term performance.

You must understand when you are frustrated; it is nobody’s fault but your own. The truth is, that ALL frustration in our business comes from the fact that we can’t  make people do, that which we want them to do. Read that statement again!

The only persons actions we can control are our own! We must consistently, daily, weekly and monthly market our product and business model. We cannot control who joins, who doesn’t join, who buys or doesn’t buy. We just need to focus on stacking the odds in our favor and let the chips fall where they may.

The truth is, you have a number! For you to accomplish what you got involved in the industry  for, there are X number of people you are going to have to expose to our product and opportunity before your reasons become a reality. PERIOD, END OF STORY. IT IS A NUMBERS GAME!  You can’t control who does or who doesn’t the only thing you can control is how many people you are personally exposing on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

I have heard it said that you must learn to discipline your disappointments. I believe you must learn not to be disappointed by the actions or lack their of other human beings. We are all looking for the right people at the right time in their life! The only person’s actions we can control is our own! To let other people’s actions steal your peace of mind is ludicrous.

You don’t  need to learn how to be a better closer, you do need to learn to always ASK FOR THE SALE! But it you close someone in the business will they ever do anything?  “A person convinced against their will is of the same opinion still”   So the answer is NO!  You will have to beg them to make their list, encourage them to contact their list, and you will spend a lot of time and energy trying to get people to do something, they don’t want to do, in my opinion it is simply not worth it. Your focus and peace of mind is to valuable to be interrupted by non productive people who refuse to take their financial future or their health seriously.

This business is FUN when you are working with people who want it! People do things in life for their reasons, not ours! That is why it is so important for you to help people establish their reasons in the beginning. Until they know why, the how doesn’t matter!

I am constantly seeing associates within this industry trying to fight the odds, and common sense. They are constantly looking for the magic fu fu dust that will dramatically and instantly create success in their organization and propel them to Presidential Director. Ladies and gentleman, their AINT NO FU FU DUST!

Success comes from working duplicatable systems that STACK the ODDS in your favor and spend some time daily working towards your goals (reasons)

You must learn to work with the way it is, and not attempting to fight that which cannot be changed.

UNDEBATABLE REALITIES

  • After your warm market, a referral is the best lead you can obtain. It always has been and it always will be. It was 25 years ago when I entered the industry and it will be 25 years from now. You must become a MASTER at gathering referrals and following a duplicatable system that can be taught to your team to help them gather referrals. Does this make sense? Is this debatable? Of course not, so don’t FIGHT IT!
  • Most people will lose their first real good person, because instead of providing strong duplicatable direction (Reasons / 50 name list etc.) they will tend to go into a SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT Mode (Pour gasoline on their excited distributor, until they burn out) instead of DIRECTING THEM.
  • Your personality is not duplicatable.
  • Because most of your people have been in the work force as an employee for many years, you will need to help them establish a weekly schedule for doing their business.
  • People who learn how to get the dollar signs out of their eyes and simply help people with our product and opportunity in the long run become much more successful as long as they don’t fall in the trap of mothering people too much. People know if you care. They know if you are Value Focused or Income Focused.
  • We are not in the product sales business, we are in the leadership development business. Your goal is not to develop followers your goal must be to develop leaders through duplicatable systems and programs, that can be easily taught.
  • The first 2 realities that good people will discover in our industry is that
    the work ethic in this country stinks and people lie. This isn’t going to change, the question is when you know this, what are you going to do about it to stack the odds in your favor?

Let me give you a quick example. How many times have you invited someone to an event and they tell you, yes, I will definitely t r y to make it. You KNOW when they tell you that, they have NO INTENTIONS OF COMING! But you say something like, great I will save you a seat and then go on your merry way telling yourself that you have a guest that will be coming to the event. Then they don’t show up, you are disappointed and of course you never see them again! LADIES AND GENTLMAN, THIS IS BORDER LINE INSANITY!

Some network marketers have been conducting their business like this for months, some years, some for 10 or 15 years. Somehow we just think this is normal, and this is what we do and every now and then, maybe 1 out of 25 times someone will actually show up. The other 24 times, we get to complain to our leader and have people feel sorry for us, because our guest didn’t show up. GET A CLUE! If it isn’t working do something different!

Let’s take the same example. You invite a guest to an event, you have the same feeling that they have no intentions of coming but this time instead of the normal fluff communications that we all do on a daily basis in our society, you say. Listen Mr. Jones, I only have a limited number of seats that I can reserve for this event, are you telling me the truth, are you going to be there, or are you lying to me like most people? Usually (without thinking) people will say NO, I told you I would be there and I will be there! Any other answer they give would be admitting that they WERE LYING when they originally told you they would be there, do you get this?

Then you say great, here is my number, can I get your phone number. (Again without thinking, they will tell you there number) If anything comes up please contact me so I can give your seat to someone else and if there is any change in the time or location I will make certain to give you a courtesy call as well.

This little tip will improve your show up rate by at least 30%. Yes a large majority of people still won’t call and won’t show up, but NOW YOU HAVE THEIR PHONE NUMBER to follow up with.

You must call them immediately after the event. That call should go something like this. Mr. Jones, this is Dale Calvert I just wanted to call and make sure you are ok, and that you didn’t have car trouble this morning.

(Listen and see what kind of creative excuse they come up with for not showing up and not calling) then simply say. Listen we had a great overview, I had 4 other guest that attended and they are very excited about what they saw and heard, listen Mr. Jones, are you still interested in evaluating our company, or can I go ahead and scratch you off my list?

If they have any interest what so ever, they will not want you to scratch them and at that point you can invite them to your next weekly event, a conference call, your website, or get a company CD in their hands. If they scratch me, they have zero interest and will do nothing but continue to waste your time and drain your energy.

You see this is a much better approach than spending the rest of your career deceiving yourself into thinking someone is going to show up as your guest at an event when in your heart or hearts you know they have no intentions of coming.

IT IS ABOUT YOU GETTING BETTER & TO GET BETTER YOU MUST GET THROUGH THE FLUFF AND GET REAL WITH YOURSELF.

When you accept human nature and you learn to set up systems and procedures that stack the odds in your favor, everything starts to come together and move forward. You will never win all the time, but you want the greatest returns for the time, energy and effort you put into your business.

One final thought. Work on becoming better and improving your skills and communication abilities. The two greatest benefits of our industry is #1 The personal growth and development that is required to become successful, very few people can do the business with the skills they entered the industry with. If they can then I promise you those people aren’t duplicatable. #2 is the friendships and relationships that you develop. By the way, #3 is the lifestyle the residual income can provide for you and your family.

With that said, FOCUS MORE OF YOUR THOUGHTS ON YOUR STRENGTHS than you do the areas where you need to improve. WORK ON AND CREATE ACTIVITIES THAT help you develop the areas you need improvements, but THINK ABOUT your strengths.

You have a lot of good, you have a lot of areas where you excel, THINK ABOUT those areas, learn to MAXIIMIZE YOUR STRENGTHS while expanding your comfort zone in those areas that need improvement.

YOUR CAN DO THIS BUSINESS, JUST FOCUS ON BECOMING THE BEST YOU CAN BE, AND THAT WILL BE ENOUGH!

You don’t have to become as accomplished as the leaders in your company?. You just have to become the best you can be, and that will take you wherever you want to go in this profession.
