A couple of years ago when I decided to start the “No Fluff Network Marketing Leadership Development Podcast” I decided to lay it all on the line.  I never have been accused of Sugar Coating anything, but because of my friend Ron Henley the concept  “When a movement get’s away from its core beliefs there is always unintended consequences” had dominated my

The motivation behind this podcast is about TRUE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT.  Leadership is not  title!  As the great Brian Tracy says:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TRUTH IS TRUTH  – WISDOM IS WISDOM!

 

 

It was about a year ago I had an intense conversation with a recognized network marketing guru.  I am paraphrasing, but he said “Dale, did you realize how much money being right is costing you?  People don’t want to have facts and truth thrown in their face, they want to be told what they want  to hear,  and how great they are.   

Challenging people’s self-limiting beliefs and fears is the best way to make certain that they will never listen to your podcasts or share them with their team members.  All you are doing is driving business  to those who are willing to say whatever so they can sell their useless training materials”

My response was simple:

NOT THE RIGHT PEOPLE!   The right people understand the difference between fluff and Fu Fu dust and wisdom of the age’s success principles and truth.  My goal is not to sell all the training programs I can, my goal is to positively impact as many families as I can and I don’t think you accomplish that with a lot of fluff, do you?  Shallow thinking, self absorbed people who grew up receiving participation trophies their entire life have challenges becoming real leaders.

 

He gave me the look I have seen hundreds of times over the years.  He looked at me like “You  naive Idiot”, you are leaving way too much money on the table.

Honestly, there was a time when I thought  many of  the “leaders” in this profession just didn’t know any better.  I gave them a benefit of the doubt, until a point.  However as I have observed their actions over the last couple of years I am convinced that there primary goal  is not to learn how to systematically develop real leaders on their team, but to develop an organization of as many followers as possible so they can, keep them on autoship as long as they can, or sell them whatever they want to sell them.  Most network marketing gurus have done a great job not at teaching the skill sets and mindsets that move people forward, but convincing the masses that the cool kids play in my sandbox.  I have said it a thousands times and will probably say it a thousands more, I look back at this and sincerely don’t know if I should laugh or cry.  However it is becoming easier and easier to laugh when I know people around the world are starting to laugh with me based upon the daily emails I receive from No Fluff Podcast listeners.

Common sense tells us, if your long term income is in direct relation to the number of leaders, that you DEVELOP on your team ………..  developing followers  you can sell stuff to is a recipe for disaster.   This is one of the main reasons most of the people who have developed a six figure income with this business model over the past 15 years are no longer involved in network marketing.

I believe what Jim Rohn  said  “You must love the people on your team enough to tell them what they need to hear, not necessarily what they want to hear”  Yes my life may be easier if I could just focus on following the pack, create a following an tell naive newbies what they want to hear.

We have all heard Jim tell the story.   His mentor, Earl Shoaff asked him for a list of reasons he wasn’t succeeding.   Jim made out a typical list.

–His boss – Taxes are too high—His relatives – etc. etc etc.

 

Mr Shoaff came back with this statement.   “Mr. Rohn, there is one thing wrong with your list”.   Jim said, “What is that?”  Mr. Shoaff replied, “YOU aint on it”.
What if Mr. Shoaff had not  had the guts to tell Jim Rohn the truth?   Would the world have lost one of the most influential impactful business minds of the past decade?

 

Something to think about isn’t it?

This week someone sent me an email and said  “Dale you are the most hated network marketer in our space just because you have the guts to speak the truth but you should really try to learn how to play well with others”

My response is, look you can’t have it both ways.  I understand people who have never really listened to me may have negative opinions.   I have been getting death threats since 1995 when I introduce the first Network Marketing is a Scam training.

I understand my market.  My real intention is to TRY to run off most of the people.  Yes, they may be high paying customers, but that sincerely means nothing to me.

Believe it or not.   My goal is not to sell all the training programs I can, my goal is to positively impact as many families as I can and I don’t think that can be accomplished  if you don’t have the guts to tell people what they really need to hear.

I don’t think this can be accomplished by stroking people’s ego, and telling them what they want to hear.

Not because I am all knowing, but because I started out as a 20 year old snot nose kid, that didn’t know what he didn’t know.  But throw countless hours of audio training and implementation the path to success for the majority of people that enter this profession (The 27% ers )  became abundantly clear.  So clear it haunts me.

So again, just let me share a sincere, heart felt thank you to all of you who support this website, our podcasts, webinars, and other content. (EVEN THE LURKERS, and obviously we have many)   It is people like you that become real leaders and will develop real leaders on your teams, I BELIEVE THAT as many of you do.   Before I let you go, we need to all thank Mr. Earl Shoaff, because without him ………..well you understand.
