Rebel Finds Good Life In The Leadership Development Business
BY JAN WALLEN
Dale Calvert is a self-described rebel. He didn't buy into going to school, get a good education and get a good job for a good company routine just because everyone said that is what you are supposed to do. He goes on to say, I felt like most of the people I knew who had followed that advice were miserable, living their life for the weekends. I looked at the people that were working for someone else, and none of them had what I wanted! Owning my own business was the only option I had..
And for Dale Calvert, it has been a good option. He has received many awards including the One Percent club, Altuz Bird winner, Rookie of the Year, and Presidential Advisory Council. All individual awards are only possible because of a great team that pushes you to the top. He started with Shaklee Corporation in 1984, and for three years, put every dime he made back into the business. At the end of this time, he left IBM and supported his family with his business. hasn't received a paycheck from an employer for the past 15 years.
Dale says he was influenced by some of the greats like Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn and others. But he gives the most credit to Jim Burke, Shaklee Master Coordinator. He taught me that network marketing has nothing to do with products or how much a marketing plan pays. Network Marketing is about leadership development. The growth of your business is in direct proportion to the number of leaders you are able to develop.
Dale continues his remarks about Jim Burke, I feel the man is light years ahead of this industry and that 99% of the people haven't figured out that we truly are in the a ˜Leadership development business. Dale has a long list of heroes. One of them is Pete Rose. IiI grew up watching Pete play. I think he helped me understand at an early age to always give 110% and expect to win. He credits his dad, Ben Calvert, for encouraging him with his patience, strength and constant support throughout his life. His other heroes are his Leadership team and all those who have always believed in me. The best thing about being self-employed for Dale Calvert is having the opportunity to share with other people how they can become debt-free, totally financially independent and gain one hundred percent control over their time. He concludes, Success is really only success when it can be shared and duplicated.
