NOTE TO SELF – Don’t Schedule 4 Hours of Audio & Video Training On The Day You Are Having Your Office Roof Replace!?
I stayed up until 5:00 AM listening to an enlightening training.
My plan was to get up around 10:00 or 11:00, and video tape until Dawn & I needed to leave around 4:00 to meet my middle daughter and her family at one of our favorite hole in the wall BBQ joints.
At 7:15 it sounded like a group of paratroopers from the movie Red Dawn landed on my roof. “What in the world is going on?” I thought to myself for ½ second. “Oh yeah, this is the day the roofing team is coming. I was thinking that was tomorrow… oh yeah, it is tomorrow” was the internal conversation I had with myself.
So I got up and changed my schedule to some brainless activities that I would normally outsource.
What did I learn from this experience? Number one, double check your schedule before staying up to 5:00 in the morning! Number two, a group of people working together and each doing what they are supposed to do is a beautiful thing to watch.
At one point, there were 21 workers on our office roof all working together. They were not tripping over each other or getting in each other’s way. They were each doing exactly what they needed to do. They knocked out the roof on a 10,000 square foot building in a few hours, cleaned up and had the parking lot looking better than it did when they started, and were on to the next project.
There were no egos and no weakest link holding up the project. Just a well oiled, organized team being as productive as they possibly could be. What can network marketers and other team builders learn from watching this group?
