“I cannot tell you what one person will do, but I can
tell you what 95 out of 100 will doâ€
People are predictable and because the real product
in network marketing is people, it makes the entire
business predictable.
I want to share with you a concept I have never
talked about before, but I have observed for thirty years.
I call this concept the Mental progressions of
Network Marketing leaders and the mental digression
of Network marketing failures.
When skeptical people with poor self images get
involved in network marketing the digression of their
mindset starts off bad, and then goes down hill, you
can count on it.
• I don’t think It will work for me.
(With no conviction or belief in what they are doing
they casually mention their product or opportunity to
four or five co-workers or family members, all who bring
up basic, common objections. Instead of directing
these people to a 3rd party presentation, they end up
talking too much and trying to sell these people on the
opportunity instead of the EVALUATION of the 3rd
party tool)
This obviously doesn’t work.
• Mindset moves to I knew it wouldn’t work for
me, I can’t sell
• Then the excuses start and it becomes
somebody’s fault, or blame their failure on the
company, the product, the people in their town,
their negative relatives, anybody except the fact
that they are lousy and don’t have any belief or
conviction about what they are doing.
This is 70% of the population and eventually all
leaders come to the conclusion that we would be
much better off if we just never sponsored these
people to begin with.
I talk about this in a video I did called “We are
only looking for 30% of the population†which you
can check out at www.MPBDiamond.com
The Mental Progression of a Network
Marketing Leader.
You can watch good people go through a
mental progression. As I share with
you these mental states some of you
will remember when you were at various
states, and you can probably identify
various people on your team that are at
a particular state right now. The secret
is to progress, or “grow past†each
state, and don’t hang around too long.
Some people get caught in a state and
never seem to be able to progress and
move forward. Don’t let this happen to
you or your team members!
#1 I am going to get Rich! When new
people really get a vision for the
duplication factor and residual income
that network marketing can provide,
they know that everyone they know
will be smart enough to jump on this
concept. Why would anyone want to
spend their life building someone else’s
dream when they can create residual
income? That is a great question, but
most of you know in the real world,
most people are afraid to try anything
new.
#2 AGGRAVATION and Frustration
When we realize that 70% of the population
has no vision. Then 50% of those that do
join, never make any effort what so
eve,r we tend to become discouraged
with the lies prospects tell us and the
terrible work ethic of those that do join.
Aggravation and frustration moves
in as we realize “people lie†the work
ethic in the United States stinks, these
are the first two major realities of this
business.
#3 SIMPLISTIC At this point, we
tend to play with the numbers and feel
like we can put together such a simple,
logical presentation, that only a fool
wouldn’t join. I have been there,
and have seen many people get stuck in
this stage.
Eventually it becomes real evident
that people do things for their reasons
not ours, and that 70% will not do a
thing no matter how logical a concept is,
or how much sense it makes. Those who
tend to focus on the numbers and
logic lose touch with human nature and
the realities of this business.
#4 DO IT ALL FOR THEM. This is how
ridiculous ideas like downline clubs,
lead co-ops, phone room closers, etc,
etc. are developed. The basic
concept is just give me x number of
dollars for the co-op advertising
and I will create the leads and close
them for you. The challenge?
Network marketing is a leadership
development business. You cannot
throw money at it to build an
organization of leaders. These types of
programs have been around for years
and years. It is comical. When
people get to this state of mind
whatever master plan they come up
with …. they know it will answer the
challenges and somehow activate
70% of the population who are going
to die broke no matter what.
Network marketing is not about finding
people who are willing to spend
40 bucks a month for an autoship and
join a downline building coop $200.
It is about developing leaders! If you
build people, people will build
the business!
#5 GO THROUGH THE NUMBERS AND
FIND 3 LEADERS A YEAR. This is
the stage that all leaders must get to,
to maximize their productivity. Many
potentially good people with leadership
abilities find themselves going in
and out of the first four levels. When
does this ever change?
When can you finally get yourself mentally
and emotionally to the point where
you understand the law of averages?
I believe it happens for most people
after they find somebody that wants
the business as bad as they do, and
are 100% committed and dedicated.
Until this happens, you will see people
come and go all the time. Some can
get focused and excited for a couple
of weeks, some a couple of months,
but a winner will stay focused and
excited for as long as it takes!
After you find your first real leader,
you know you can find another,
and another.
You first goal is to create momentum
and multiplication in your distributor
organization. However after two or
three years of finding and developing
three leaders a year, you will see the
number of leaders on your team start
to duplicate and at that point it is
game over ……… YOU WIN!
The goal is to get to Phase 5 as
soon as you can and don’t waste time on
gimmicks and short cuts.
Understand the Law of Averages and
Leadership Development and get it from
your head to your heart!
This is what finally pushed me over the
edge, in a good way.
